Cold plunges range from portable baths costing a few hundred pounds to permanent premium systems designed as part of a complete wellness space. The right choice depends on more than water temperature.
Portable or permanent?
Portable baths are easy to position and comparatively inexpensive. A permanent plunge gives a more architectural feel and can be better suited to frequent use, hospitality or a dedicated private recovery room.
Think about temperature control
If you want consistent cold water without repeatedly adding ice, confirm whether the system includes a chiller or requires a compatible external unit.
Plan drainage and maintenance
Consider how the plunge will be filled, emptied and cleaned. Indoor installations need particular care around water management, flooring and access to drains.
Check delivery access
Large premium systems can be substantially more difficult to move than portable tubs. Door widths, steps, garden access, lifts and final positioning should be considered before ordering.
Pair it intelligently
Cold plunge is often most effective as part of a broader room or routine. Sauna is the obvious companion, but the layout should still leave room for changing, towels, storage and circulation.
